Dr Rachael Natrajan
Rachael Natrajan is a Team Leader in the Breast Cancer Now Research Centre at The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR). After completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Leeds in Genetics and Zoology, she joined the ICR and completed a PhD in the molecular pathology of Wilm’s tumours with Professors Kathy Pritchard Jones and Chris Jones. Subsequent to this, she joined the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Research Centre (now the Breast Cancer Now Research Centre) at the ICR working under the supervision of Professor Jorge Reis-Filho on the molecular pathology of breast cancer. In 2012, she was awarded an independent career development fellowship from Breast Cancer Now and currently leads the Functional Genomics team. Her work is focused on understanding the function of driver genetic alterations in different subgroups of breast cancer and identifying their genetic vulnerabilities. Her interests also lie in the interplay between the genetics of cancer cells and their evolving microenvironment.
